Not the Usual Baby Shower Party You'd Expect - Los Angeles Event/Party Photographer

When Sharon and Dennis contacted me to document their baby shower party, I was so happy for such a couple that's deeply in love (you can see the manifestation of that love here)!  At the same time, I pictured in my mind the female-dominated theme where gift opening is a large part of it.  So when I was told that there would be around 90 guests attending, you can see how I was looking for my jaw on the floor. Turned out, for Sharon and Dennis that are widely-connected and love their friends as if they are families, this is more like a gathering that celebrate the new life that's about to join such a big family.  So the guests include direct family members, people that could date back to their elementary school time, and co-workers.  And many others are the kids of this closely-aged group.  I was having so much fun taking pictures of such a wonderful party and couldn't resist telling stories:

Early afternoon, looks like everything's ready:

Well, let me say one thing before people start trickling in.

From all the parties that I've been to, my personal opinion is that kids are the ones having the most fun.  And you can't help but notice that in this party.

Hey, for sure, Sharon and Dennis are a happy couple and they can't hide the glee from everybody (again, you can see it here).  Trust me, I am happy for them too!  But just go along with me and you'll see what I mean by kids having the most fun in this party.

Sharon and Dennis definitely planned it like a kid's birthday party, although the baby that's being celebrated about has not appeared yet.  You see, they have all kinds of entertainment planned for kids:

While being the observant capturing pictures, some of the personalities did come through from the interactions.  For example, I met a young lady Chloe (mind you, it's not the Chloe that you've read about in my earlier write-ups).  When I first greeted her with my camera lens, standing there all by herself, her eyes were clearly asking what business did I have in that place.  By the time the party ended, she was running towards me, all smiling.

Beauty in the Grooves of Wrinkles - Los Angeles Life-Style Photographer

For the most part, words "young" and "old" are relative terms.  Remember the days when you were in your teens, anybody in their 20s are "old".  If you are 20, middle-aged people seem "old".  Now, when 50 and 60 sound like ages for mature look, modern time makes people feel and look young.  Nonetheless, no matter what your age group, people in their 90s have had quite a lot of years behind their back and on their faces.  I happen to be related to one such lady.

The other day, as she was  going back in time, reminiscing of the life in the early 20th century,  I knew my imaginative ability was being stretched and the only things that I could hold on to were her words, the wrinkles on her face and the back that gave in to the weight in her life a long time ago.  The invasion of a foreign force, then the civil war, and the escapes...  It's a life that women in modern-time developed countries can not comprehend.  And yet, I did not see sorrow, depression, pain of losses or even hunger that once bothered her.  As I was sifting through the smooth curves in her face, I saw beauty, the beauty that would only arise out of all the unimaginable obstacles and the wisdom that we would hopefully obtain when we reach her age.

What a life, a beautiful life!  Here's my tribute to an unbelievable century:

Now, I know she'd like the colored version, I thought it looks really good in black & white as well.

Meet Sharon and Dennis, the ecstatic parents-to-be - Los Angeles Maternity Photographer

It was a beautiful day and Sharon and Dennis definitely made it brighter.

While their little daughter still has one more month to meet them, any experienced parents would say that the last month is not getting any easier.  Setting up the nursery (decoration, furniture, clothing...), having the baby shower(s) and the extra weight on mommy's body...

Yet, when I took the maternity portraits for this pair of parents, I saw nothing but happiness.  I'm sure you'd agree with me once you see the pictures below: OK, we've all seen Sharon's belly, which is expected to grow in the next month.  Now, do you think Dennis has one?  Trust me, I've tried very hard to  find his in all of my pictures as he is such a fit guy. :-)  So ladies and gentlemen, my best effort on Dennis' belly:

This next one does not show the "bun".  But if you know me, you'd know that I will not let that motherly glow slip away:

Wouldn't you agree that Sharon is a beautiful mommy?

Now, let's show some love and support by "liking" and/or commenting on this post!  Congratulations, Sharon and Dennis!
