How Many Icebergs are Enough? - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

“What are you going to do with all these photographs of icebergs?” It didn’t take long before our zodiac driver noticed my obsession with icebergs and photographing them.

Everything we know about icebergs is fascinating. That they are made of glacial ice of maybe more than 15,000 years old… That they are snow that were compressed, taking air and sediment along with them, making them history “frozen” in time. That they roll and turn and reveal many facets, telling us where they’ve been or what they’ve encountered. That “the tip of an iceberg” is truly only about 1/8 of the berg that we see…

To me, an iceberg is a unique individual that carries with her a wealth of stories waiting for the discerning eyes to learn, before it disappears into the vast ocean. So, how do I describe each iceberg’s unique qualities when all someone sees is quantity?

'Tis the Season for Family - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

‘Tis the season for family reunions around the world. Here in the US, Thanksgiving starts off a month-long series of holidays and events for get-togethers.

Family comes in all shapes and forms as if it won’t be right if we don’t take a concentrated dosage of reminder how life is supposed to be. Concentration means higher pitch, bright colors, and, almost guaranteed, deeper valleys. You know I wasn’t just talking about wines, music, holidays decorations and… and depressed wallets. :-)

Everybody in our lives come for a reason. There’s no customization when it comes to family and, therefore, family comes as is.

In my earlier days, if I come home and find myself being greeted by a family like the one depicted in this image, I’d want to turn around. But, I’m a big girl now. I may still prefer turning around and spending time with “more pleasant people”. I’d stay and try to see through the surface and accept the challenges that this certain family brings, or simply patiently waiting for them to reveal why in the world they come to my life. ;P

The Peril of a Beautiful Garden - Los Angeles Travel Photographer

The country-side of Provence in summer is beautiful. The fields of pasture grass, sun flowers, lavenders and wheat compete for attention by putting on the most glaring show of colors and textures. It’s so beautiful that we forget that they are there for practical reasons - farming.

I have a garden and I try my best to keep it beautiful and bountiful. However, it has not been free from struggles. Lately, I’ve been dealing with a rodent problem.

As if the garden is up for claims, they’d be stepping right in, climbing up and down, picking the fruits, plucking the flowers and even chewing off plants to their hearts’ content.

I have been furious at the least, frustrated a lot of times and scared of them outnumbering us recently.

I have a small garden that is far from being up to par with what I saw in Provence in terms of both size and beauty. If I struggle this much with the rodent problem, I wonder how the farmers in Provence keep up with the pests.
